This last weekend was a quite one...all the Dinos basketball and volleyball teams were on the road, meaning there were no games at the Jack Simpson Gym...save for SAIT's last basketball home games that took place on Saturday. The Trojans were taking on the Medicine Hat Rattlers, and won both games. Josh Arbuthnot was calling the game for ACAC TV, but I didn't get an opportunity to sub in for him on the broadcast. Instead, watched the games as well as the basketball game at Ambrose University on Friday, where Josh was doing play-by-play for the Lions.

With the results of the games at the Jack, the Trojans women finished first overall in the ACAC, and will now head to The King's University in Edmonton for the Championship Tournament. Their first game is against Concordia University of Edmonton on February 28. As for the men, they ended up in third place in the ACAC South...they'll now play in the Championship Tournament at Briercrest College in Saskatchewan, where their first game is against NAIT on February 27.

The Dinos will be hosting men's basketball playoffs this coming weekend...the Dinos placed second in the men's basketball Prairie Division following a weekend sweep in Regina; they get a bye into the Canada West quarter-final, which will take place in the Jack on Saturday night...they'll play the winner of the play-in game between Brandon and Trinity Western, which will also be at the Jack on Friday afternoon. Also, the Dinos men's volleyball team rose up in the standings and clinched the seventh seed in the conference, allowing them to host a best 2-out-of-3 play-in series against the University of the Fraser Valley...that series starts on Thursday, with all games taking place in the Jack.

In short, there will be three game-days at the Jack this weekend, starting on Thursday. There will be two basketball games, as well as two volleyball games, and maybe even a third volleyball game! I'm continuing to work remotely and provide some game-day information for the on-air broadcasters...instead of the league standings, however, I'm looking at individual player stats with the goal of determining which player(s) to highlight as players to watch during the pre-game analysis. I'm hoping this information will be just as useful as what I've been providing to them all month.
